Nirmal: Forest Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was extending crop investment support scheme to farmers for the first time in the country.
He was chief guest at the ongoing week-long celebrations being held on reaching the milestone of Rs 50,000 crore released to beneficiaries under Rythu Bandhu scheme, in Narsapur (G) mandal centre on Wednesday.
Addressing a gathering, Indrakaran said farmers were happy to have been extended the support as they could overcome challenges in borrowing money for raising crops. He said no State was implementing the initiative on the lines of the historic Rythu Bandhu.
Earlier, the Minister performed Ksheerabhishekam to the portrait of K Chandrashekhar Rao and took part in a bullock cart rally taken out by farmers as a token of gratitude for implementing the scheme. He inspected ‘rangolis’ drawn at the venue by students and women to thank the Chief Minister and appreciated them.
Meanwhile, Government Whip Balka Suman said the agrarian community was elated to get the support from the government through the historic scheme. He stated that a sum of Rs 360 crore of the total Rs 50,000 crore was sanctioned to Chennur Assembly constituency. He said celebrations would be held on a grand note in the segment from Wednesday to January 10.
Suman further said steps were being taken to irrigate one lakh acres of agriculture fields in Chennur constituency with the help of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme. He added Chandrashekhar Rao had introduced the Rythu Bandhu scheme to strengthen the agriculture sector, which could generate employment to a large number of people.
