Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy said so far Rs.5145.87 crore have been deposited into 54.37 lakh farmers’ accounts under Rythu Bandhu scheme.
On Saturday alone, Rs.1050.10 crore have been deposited into 4.90 lakh farmers’ accounts. The disbursement of investment support under the Rythu Bandhu scheme is scheduled to conclude before June 25.
Among all the districts, the highest deposits of Rs.401.92 crore were deposited into 3.97 lakh farmers in Nalgonda district, followed by Rs.254.62 crore deposits into 2.35 lakh farmers’ accounts in Nagarkurnool district. While, the lowest deposits of Rs.19.68 crore into 27,819 farmers accounts, was recorded in Medchal district.
In a statement issued here, the Agriculture Minister said the Rythu Bandhu scheme had aided in increasing the acreage in the State drastically. The steady increase in yields was evident to this fact, he said.
During the formation of Telangana, the godowns storage capacity was four lakh metric tonnes and this has now been increased to 29.26 lakh metric tonnes, he pointed out. Apart from godowns, the stocks were being stored at Rythu Vedikas, cotton mills and other suitable locations, he informed.
Before commenting on the procurement exercises, opposition parties should study the factors facilitating in drastic increase in paddy production in the State, said Niranjan Reddy.
