Sabarimala special trains: Convenient route for Ayyappa Swamy devotees to visit Kerala’s sacred temples
Railway officials stated that these trains were designed to assist Ayyappa Swamy devotees traveling from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to the Sabarimala shrine. The special trains allow devotees to conveniently plan their journeys and visit important pilgrimage centers and temples along the way in Kerala.
Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) is running Sabarimala special trains covering several important pilgrimage destinations enroute.
Railway officials said these trains were planned for the benefit of Ayyappa Swamy devotees visiting the Sabarimala shrine from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Devotees travelling by these special trains can conveniently plan to visit enroute pilgrimage centres of important temples in Kerala.
The temples included in the circuit are the Sastha temples at Pandalam, Kulathupuzha, Aryankavu, Achankovil and Erumeli.
Other famous temples covering enroute stations are Golden Temple at Vellore, Annamalaiyar Temple at Tiruvannamalai, Ranganatha Swamy Temple at Srirangam, Mariamman Temple at Samayapuram (Tiruchirappalli), Meenakshi Amman Temple at Madurai, Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple at Thiruparankundram (Madurai), Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple at Palani (Dindigul), Andal Temple at Srivilliputhur, Sri Krishna Temple at Punalur etc.
The train services include Secunderabad – Kollam (07175) running on December 19 and 26, Kollam – Secunderabad (07176) running on December 21 and 28, Secunderabad – Kollam (07175) running on January 2, 9 and 16, and Kollam – Secunderabad (07176) running on January 4, 11 and 18 next year.
These special trains consist of First AC, 2AC, 3AC, Sleeper Class and General Second Class coaches, SCR said.
