Sai Karteek Reddy clinches ITF men’s doubles title in Kuala Lumpur
India’s G Sai Karteek Reddy, partnering Thailand’s Thantub Sukhsumrarn, won the men’s doubles crown at the USD 15K ITF World Tour in Kuala Lumpur. The duo defeated Van Sambeek and Crowther in a thrilling final, marking Reddy’s 24th ITF final appearance
Kuala Lumpur: India’s G Sai Karteek Reddy and his Thai partner Thantub Sukhsumrarn clinched the men’s doubles crown at the USD 15K World Tour ITF Tennis Tournament in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
In a thrilling final, the Indo-Thai duo defeated Fons Van Sambeek (Netherlands) and Corban Crowther (New Zealand) 7-6 (8-6), 4-6, 12-10 in a high-intensity contest that lasted two hours. Both teams fought hard for every point before Reddy and Sukhsumrarn prevailed in the deciding super tie-break.
Earlier, in the semifinals, they overcame the second-seeded pair of Alcantra F (Philippines) and Ferguson Chase (Australia) 4-6, 6-3, 10-7. In the quarterfinals, they combined well to beat Indonesia’s Susanto Anthony and Trisumuwantra Gunawan 6-2, 6-4. In the pre-quarterfinals, they defeated another Indonesian duo, Kurniawan Lucky Candra and Wibowo Tegar, in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.
This was the 24th final appearance for Sai Karteek Reddy in ITF World Tour tournaments, underlining his consistency and success on the international circuit.
