Covid trigger
As online engagement increased for small and medium businesses, it became important for businesses to come out with applications, which gave rise to demand for low code. Technology advancements and demand for agility, changing environment, focus on customer engagement and expectations accelerated application development, low code platform and citizen developers for creation of user and business interfaces.
Emerging demand
Low code development is the capability that allows those who are not proficient with development language, environment, and technologies to create business processes, user interface, automation and provide functional capabilities. This gave rise to the movement of citizen developers. The number of engagement apps that organisations are building between 2018 and 2023 are expected to run into millions and is much higher than the apps created over the last several decades.
Suitability to organisations
In large organisations, where interdepartmental functions need to be integrated and consumer engagement needs to be ensured, low code has a role to play. Low code is suitable for every business and organisations of all scales. Large aviation companies have also benefited by low code, not just small and medium business entities. Low code also offers significant cost benefits to organisations. Several organisations have adopted low code to drive their innovations.
Vertical patterns
Every business is going digital. Sectors such as automotive have seen digital adoption across the value chain and processes and so are manufacturing and services sectors. Technology is disrupting every sector. Edutech as a segment has seen significant digital transformation. Traditional verticals are also getting into the forefront of digital drive and low code will help them all.
Salesforce engagement
Businesses today are serving customers through multiple channels. Salesforce is helping these businesses as basic as apparel to go online. The company with its B2B and B2C solutions is helping businesses to enhance their engagement, transactions, and delivery to customers. Whenever organisations want to shift to an agile environment, Salesforce offers different coding tools that best suit them. We have engaged with varied markets and businesses over the years.
Skilling development
IT companies are making efforts to provide skills for low code development for its coders. We are helping companies in this exercise. Non-IT organisations which are using low code for their innovation are also looking to improve learnings and invest in low code platforms. Organisations need to create a learning environment that enables such skill development to meet future needs.
Future focus
Salesforce is focusing on low code platforms. We have built capabilities over the years. Going forward also, we will continue our focus on unification, enhanced usage of artificial intelligence and DevOps to drive innovation in low code platforms.
