Sand-laden tractor claims life of Peddapalli ACP’s father in Mancherial
A 75-year-old man, father of Peddapalli ACP, died after a sand-laden tractor hit his two-wheeler in Patha Mancherial. Locals alleged rampant illegal sand mining and reckless driving due to lack of official supervision in the area.
Mancherial: An elderly man was killed on the spot when a sand-laden tractor mowed down a two-wheeler on which he was travelling at Patha Mancherial here on Friday.
Police said that the victim was identified as Gajji Ailaiah, 75, father of Peddapalli ACP Gajji Krishna, received critical injuries when the tractor hit the motorbike, resulting in instantaneous death for him. A case was registered against the driver of the tractor from Kyathanpalli.
Locals alleged that some persons were illicitly mining and transporting sand from Godavari river near Patha Mancherial and Mulkalla village in Hajipur mandal round the clock, following lack of supervision by officials concerned. They charged that the drivers of the sand-laden tractors were riding the vehicles in rash and negligent manner causing road accidents and killing the public.
