‘Sangameshwara, Basaveshwara LIS will change face of Sangareddy’

Sangareddy: Protem Chairman of the State Legislative Council V Bhupal Reddy said that Sangameshwara and Basaveshwara Lift Irrigation Projects, which were taken up as part of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme, will change the face of agriculture in Sangareddy district.

Addressing the gathering after unfurling the national flag to mark the 75th Independence Day Celebrations at Police Parade grounds in Sangareddy on Sunday, he said the State government has already undertaken the survey works of both Sangameshwara and Basaveshwara Lift Irrigation projects at a cost of Rs 27.23 crore.

Elaborating various efforts put in by the State government for rapid development of agriculture in Sangareddy district, Bhupal Reddy said the government granted Rs 26 crore for construction of check dams across river Manjeera. “The government also released Rs 32 crore for digging new tanks in Narayankhed constituency besides taking up Nallavagu restoration works with an outlay of Rs 24 crore. As on today, farmers in the district have taken up cultivation of various crops in 6.86 lakh acres,” he said.

Zilla Parishad Chairperson P Manjusri, Collector Sangareddy M Hanumantha Rao, Superintedent of Police Ramana Kumar and others were present.
