Sangareddy: Sangareddy Collector P Pravinya has come under fire from BRS leaders for allegedly refusing to allot Indiramma houses on the advice of Zaheerabad MLA K Manik Rao, despite directions from district incharge Minister G Vivekananda.
According to BRS leaders, Vivekananda had issued written instructions to allocate 40 per cent of the sanctioned houses in each constituency based on recommendations from the local MLA. In the first phase, the State government allotted 3,500 houses per Assembly segment, of which 1,400 were to be allotted through MLAs.
However, Rao alleged that the Collector refused to implement the order, citing lack of a government directive. The MLA, joined by Sangareddy MLA Chintha Prabhakar, former MLA Kranti Kiran and other BRS leaders, met Additional Collector B Chandrasekhar on Wednesday and produced the letter issued by Minister Vivekananda. Rao further said he had obtained the endorsement of Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.
Speaking on the occasion, Prabhakar accused the Collector of acting like a Congress party worker, warning that officers working under political influence would be “taught a lesson”. Manik Rao declared that unless the poor homeless beneficiaries were allotted houses, BRS would lay siege to the Collectorate.
He further alleged that houses were being distributed under the influence of Congress leaders, ignoring recommendations of elected MLAs, and that the committees formed for allotment were comprised solely of Congress workers.
