Sangareddy: A history enthusiast BV Badragirish has identified multiple stone circles, belonging to the megalithic period (4,000BC), near Nizampet mandal headquarters. Badragirish, who was working as environmental engineer with the pollution control board of Telangana, was passionate about History, Archaeology and Coins.

During a visit to Narayankhed recently, Badaragirish saw some stone circles close to the Nizampet while he was on his way to Narayankhed town by road. He got off the vehicle and searched for them in a 2-km radius. While one burial remained intact, nearly 15 burials were disturbed as local farmers took up cultivation in the area.

Badargirish and other history enthusiasts were planning another visit to the area, to search for other evidence. He said that there was a possibility that they could trace some tools used by the ancient people here.

Sriramoju Haraopal, founder of Kotha Telangana Charitra Brundam (KTCB), said that the ancient humans used to bury the people in such way by placing slabs of stones in all six directions, but they would keep a porthole from upside as they would believe that the soul will live on and might be reborn.

Later, they will place stones in a circle around the burial, marking it as a sacred space. Haragopal said that the kin of the deceased will place various tools the person used in his lifetime and the things he loved in the burial. He observed that the excavation of such burial sites would help to understand the history of the area.
