Hyderabad: Three researchers from the Kotha Telangana Charitra Brundam have identified 12 paleolithic stone tools in Mulugu district.
The Brundam in a statement said its researchers – Kondaveeti Gopivaraprasad Rao, Mohammed Naseeruddin, and Ahobilam Karunakar, identified these paleolithic stone tools at coordinates 18.5498°N, 80.2680°E in Bhupathipur village of Kannaigudem Mandal.
These tools range in length from 6 inches to 3 inches and include cleavers, cleaver-hand axes, scrapers, choppers, flakes, and hand axes. Examination of their manufacturing style indicates they date from approximately 40,000 years ago. Among them are biconvex hand axes, unifacial scrapers, and bifacial cleavers.
These paleolithic stone tools were found in a stream of the Godavari upper basin, near the Devadula pipeline in the western agency forest area of Bhupathipur village. This location hosts a large Paleolithic tool factory site apart from hundreds of Mesolithic microliths are being recovered here.
