Sangareddy: Midnight drama at Gummadidala as GHMC tries to silently build dump yard

Sangareddy: Despite strong opposition from locals, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials began building a dump yard at Pyara Nagar in Gummadidala mandal.
Fearing protests, the GHMC authorities took up the construction on Tuesday midnight, stirring controversy. Following information, several local BRS and Congress leaders rushed to the spot to stop the works. However, the police took them into custody and shifted them to police stations.
The incident triggered tension as a huge number of people from Pyara Nagar and Nallavally villages arrived at the spot to stop the works. The villagers said that the dump yard would cause environmental pollution locally, making life difficult to them.
The GHMC had brought a huge number of vehicles to dump the waste. Meanwhile, the GHMC officials will hold a press conference at 10 am in Gummadidala to clear the apprehensions of the people.
