Sangareddy: Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy thanked Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for his decision to set up a medical college in Sangareddy along with five other colleges in different district headquarters in Telangana.

The MP, while addressing a press conference along with elected representatives and TRS leaders here on Tuesday, said the Chief Minister had promised to set up a medical college in Sangareddy and kept his promise. Since Covid-19 was posing many challenges, the decision to set up medical colleges would help in tackling such situations in future, he said.

Stating that the previous governments had failed to set up medical colleges in the government sector, he said Chandrashekhar Rao had set up a number of medical colleges across the State. The MP said the TRS government would continue to strive to create better health infrastructure in the days to come.

Andole MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran said the people of Sangareddy district would get the hospital-cum-medical college which will give many youngsters from the district a chance to pursue medicine as a career since number of seats would be increased.

Former Sangareddy MLA Chintha Prabhakar said the Chief Minister had made the promise during the last election campaign in 2018. Though they had lost the seat by a slender margin, Prabhakar said the Chief Minister had kept his word.

Former MLC R Satyanarayana said that there was long pending demand to set up a medical college in Sangareddy, but no government in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh had put in any efforts towards this purpose. Thanking Chandrashekhar Rao for his decision, Satyanarayana said the people of Sangareddy would remain indebted to the Chief Minister.

People across Sangareddy district performed ‘palabhishekam’ to the Chief Minister’s portrait as a token of gratitude. MLA Mahareddy Bhupal Reddy and others also hailed the decision.
