Karimnagar: Bar Council of India gave its permission for University College of Law, Satavahana University.

Permission was given to commence the LLB course with an intake of 120 students (two sections) from the academic year 2025-26.

It may be recalled here that the state government sanctioned two new colleges, including Engineering and Law College to Satavahana University. In this regard, GO No. 18 and 19 were issued on March 24 this year, to operate both the colleges from the academic year 2025-26.

It was mentioned in the GO that the three-year LLB course will start with two sections, with an intake of 60 students (2×60=120) and LLM (intellectual property law) with one section, with an intake of 20 students.

Rs 22.96 crore was also sanctioned for the development of the law college.

Union Minister of State for Home, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, took the initiative to get the approval of the Bar Council of India for the law college.

Sanjay Kumar, along with university Vice-Chancellor Prof Umesh Kumar and former Mayor Y Sunil Rao, met Union Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Meghwal last month and submitted a representation requesting him to ensure that admission should start from this academic year.
