Satavahana Prof bags patent for screening anti-diabetic drug using chick embryo
Satavahana University Vice-Chancellor S Mallesh congratulated Kranthi for his innovation and bringing reputation to the budding university by securing the patent.
Karimnagar: Palle Kranthi Raju, an Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology, University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Satavahana University in Karimnagar town, and his team bagged the Indian patent for a method of screening anti-diabetic drugs using chick embryo.
Instead of using the animals for pre-clinical studies and later on human beings for clinical studies for the invention of new drugs, Kranthi Raju and his team used the chick embryo (hatching eggs) to conduct tests about the drugs.
“It is possible to reduce expenditure and save precious lives of animals by using chick embryo for drug trials,” Kranthi Raju said.
Satavahana University Vice-Chancellor S Mallesh congratulated Kranthi for his innovation and bringing reputation to the budding university by securing the patent.
He assured all assistance for further research on various issues and urged him to secure more patents and reputation to the university. Registrar T Bharath, Principal Tirupathi, Assistant Registrar Y Kishore and others were also present.
