Hyderabad: The detention of volunteers of Save KBR Park by Banjara Hills police after their protest against tree felling near Indo-American Cancer Cancer in Banjara Hills, heightened tensions.
In a statement, volunteers of Save KBR Park on Wednesday, a civilian organisation, stated that at 2 am on Tuesday, a group of citizens and volunteers peacefully protested against ongoing tree felling near Indo-American Cancer Cancer in Banjara Hills, after which police of the Banjara Hills Police Station detained them.
Deeksha, one of volunteers, told Telangana Today, that the volunteers reached the area, where tree felling activity taken up by the GHMC at 2 am and held peaceful protest. But police took the volunteers into their custody and shifted to Banjara Hills police station.
The volunteers urged the police to, immediately disclose the status and whereabouts of the detained individuals and ensure access to legal representation and immediate release them.
