Hyderabad: A long-standing demand to rejuvenate the decades-old Trimulgherry Lake in Secunderabad Cantonment has been resolved after the SCB passed a resolution to commence the works.
The Board meeting was chaired by Brig S Rajeev, who took the oath as President of the Cantonment Board on Friday in Secunderabad Cantonment.
The Board also decided to build an RCC retaining wall on Patny Nala to prevent encroachments. In the first week of this month, the Hydraa had demolished unauthorised structures built on the Patny Nala.
The SCB chief executive officer D Madhukar Naik said the Hydraa advised the Cantonment Board to construct the retaining wall, estimating the cost at Rs 1.5 crore. However, the SCB is facing a fund crunch and has approached the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), which is undertaking the construction of two elevated corridors in Secunderabad Cantonment, seeking assistance with the construction of the retaining wall. The proposal is under active consideration.
Brig.Rajeev mentioned that once the HMDA accepts the SCB proposal and official communication is received, the work will commence. The resolution was passed accordingly.
Other items on the agenda, including approval for spending Rs 9.90 lakh to shift the water pumps in Balamrai and Bowenpally pump houses, which are being demolished as part of the elevated corridor proposed on NH-44 between Paradise Circle and Suchitra Junction, were scheduled for discussion in the Board meeting.
