From Ramagundam-3 solar plant, a total of 30 megawatts solar power has been synchronised with the Transco so far.
Hyderabad: The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) on Wednesday synchronised another 15 megawatts of solar power with TS Transco out of 50 megawatts Singareni solar power plant in Ramagundam-3 area.
Of the 50 megawatts capacity, 15 megawatts was synchronised with the grid on November 27 last. From Ramagundam-3 solar plant, a total of 30 megawatts solar power has been synchronized with the Transco so far.
With this, of the 129 megawatts capacity in the first phase, 85 megawatts Singareni solar power has been synchronized with the Transco. The balance 20 megawatts division will be synchronised by the end of next month.
An SCCL press release on Wednesday said the first phase of establishing solar power plants throughout Singareni was almost completed. Over 30 megawatts from Manuguru, 30 megawatts from Ramagundam-3, 15 megawatts from Yellandu and 10 megawatts from Singareni thermal power plant have already been synchronised with the Transco.
SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar instructed solar division officials that the balance 44 megawatts in the first phase should be completed by the end of next month and installation of 90 megawatts plants in the second phase has to be completed by May 2021.
The release added that if 50 megawatts solar plant starts production fully by February end, it would then meet 30 per cent of power requirement in the three areas of Ramgundam region. Through this, the company would be saving Rs.178 lakh monthly and Rs.21 crore annually.
The company requires 2.2 crore units of power for machinery use in the three areas. Similarly, 40 lakh units was required for various residential colonies in the areas. It is purchasing power from Transco for its residential and machinery power requirements.
Taking an average of Rs.6 per unit, the company spends Rs.15.60 crore per month. If solar power generation begins with full capacity from 50 megawatts plant, then 72 lakh units of power would be available, the release said, adding that power purchase from Transco can be reduced to that extent. Since the cost of solar power is only Rs.3.54 per unit, on an average Rs.178 lakh per month and Rs.21 crore annually will be saved. As many as 21.77 million units of solar power has been generated from seven megawatts solar divisions of Singareni in the first phase till January 19.
