Karimnagar: An attender at the Zilla Parishad High School in Kurikyala, Gangadhara mandal, was arrested on Monday after being accused of misbehaving with girl students. The incident came to light during a ‘Shukravaram Sabha’ held at the school last week.
The attender, identified as Yakub Pasha, was found guilty of inappropriate behaviour with girl students during an inquiry conducted by officials. His actions were exposed when the students, encouraged by assurances from officials during the awareness session, gathered courage to reveal their ordeals.
The Shukravaram Sabhas, conducted every Friday under the supervision of District Collector Pamela Satpathy, aim to educate women and girls about health, safety, and rights. During the session on October 24, students were briefed on the POCSO Act and concepts of good and bad touch. It was then that several girls disclosed that Pasha had been harassing them for nearly a year.
They alleged that he touched them inappropriately and secretly recorded videos on his mobile phone. Despite complaining to teachers earlier, no action was taken. Following the revelations, officials immediately reported the matter to the Collector, who ordered a detailed probe.
The inquiry, held over three days, confirmed the allegations, leading to Pasha’s arrest. As news of the inquiry spread, anxious parents gathered at the school, alleging that the attender had also installed secret cameras in the girls’ toilets.
District Child Protection Officer Parveen said testimonies were collected from students, teachers, and staff. “All details have been gathered, and a report will be submitted to the Collector for further action,” she said.
