Hyderabad: Telangana Development Forum (TDF) launched its second Science Lab on Wheels van, dedicated to promote practical learning experiences for rural students, especially girls.

The sessions for Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) schools formally commenced on Wednesday, graced by Samagra Shiksha Joint Director P Rajeev, KGBV State Coordinator Dr Shirisha, and Yadadri District Education Officer Satyanarayana.

This initiative was designed to ignite interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education among students. The Science Lab on Wheels van is equipped with state-of-the-art practical science and mathematics equipment, virtual reality (VR) headsets, and other tools to provide an engaging, hands-on learning experience.

The newly launched van will benefit over 2,200 girls from 11 KGBV schools in Yadadri district, creating opportunities for them to explore and understand science beyond textbooks.

The Telangana Development Forum has set its sights on scaling this initiative. TDF is actively working to secure CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) funds to extend the Science Lab on Wheels project to more districts in the State. The goal is to expand the project to additional areas by the start of the next academic year in June 2025.

By bridging the gap in practical education and inspiring rural students to explore the world of science, the Science Lab on Wheels project is a step forward in fostering curiosity, innovation, and a love for STEM education among the youth.
