Hyderabad: The South Central Railways has received four National Energy Conservation Awards from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India. Given for the energy conservation measures being adopted in 2021, the awards will be presented during the 31st National Energy Conservation Week to be celebrated from December 14 to 21.

Of the four awards, SCR received three in the institutions category. Kacheguda heritage building got the first prize while the second prize was bagged by the Electric Traction Training Centre, Vijayawada. The Sanchalan Bhavan, Secunderabad divisional headquarters building received the Certificate of Merit. SCR also bagged the first prize under the buildings category, for Divisional Railway Hospital, Vijayawada.


The innovative and effective implementation of energy conservation measures by the SCR authorities has been recognised at the National Energy Conservation Awards year after year, the SCR said in a press release. The SCR General Manager, Gajanan Mallya, complimented the Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, SCR, Divisional Railway Managers, Vijayawada, Secunderabad, Hyderabad and officers and staff of electrical department who were instrumental in achieving this distinction.
