Kamareddy: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister D Anasuya, also known as Seethakka, on Thursday fumed at a group of farmers who stopped her convoy demanding quicker disbursement of the paddy bonus and timely procurement of stocks.

The Minister, accompanied by Government Advisor Mohd Shabbir Ali, was on her way to offer condolences to mountaineer Malavath Poorna, who recently lost her father. As her convoy reached Ramareddy mandal, a few farmers suddenly obstructed the vehicles. Though they appealed to her to hear their grievances, Seethakka expressed anger and left the spot immediately.

Speaking later at another venue, the Minister alleged that local BRS leaders had instigated the farmers. “A local BRS leader along with two others in an inebriated condition tried to stop the vehicle. Who will be responsible if any untoward incident occurs?” she asked.

“These people should have some sense as we were heading to extend solidarity to a bereaved family. But they are gathering a few people and presenting it as a farmers’ agitation,” she alleged.

She claimed that Rs.9,000 crore had been deposited into farmers’ accounts in nine days under Rythu Bharosa.
