Hyderabad: ‘Sehari’ competes with the biggie ‘Khiladi’ at the box office this week. As apparent from the trailer, the story is about a confused millennial Varun (Harsh Kanumilli) who sets out on a roller-coaster ride soon after finding his girlfriend Subba Lakshmi, (Akshithaa), a intimidating-yet sweet talking one that Varun ever wish to have.
He has a couple of friends (Abhinav Gomatam and Praneeth Reddy) with whom he hangs out, attend rap shows. Varun gets drifted by his thoughts, in fact, he gets carried away by whatever comes across him. After dating Subbu for tiresome four years, Varun has to suffer stages of delusion, breakup and heartbreak which eventually ends on a sad note.
He thus wants to give a befitting revenge to his ex. And marriage comes to his mind. Marriage? Are you mad? The decision eventually shocks his parents and friends. His father (Koti) thinks that Varun might improve as a man if he gets married to a good alliance. The second half dishes out how a silly-yet immature Varun, in his 20s, falls in love with bride’s sister Amulya (Simran Choudhary). How the journey turns out to be is the crux of the story.
Although ‘Sehari’ looks to be a tested trope in the very first glimpse, it has the screenplay that doesn’t deviate your attention as an audience. Away from the regular cliched film conversation in a commercial cinema, director Gnanasagar tries to present the comedy in a more organic and subtle manner.
While Abhinav Gomatam generates good fun with his madcap comic timing, Harsh Kanumilli as a protagonist does justice to his character. He doesn’t look to be a debutant but portrays maturity in his acting. Actor Nandu’s cameo and singer-actor Koti did well to fill the space that film needed. With relatively unknown faces, the fresh talent pulls off the film really well.
