Hyderabad: Attending SEMICON India 2026, Sundeep Kumar Makthala, Chairman of T-CHIP and Chairman of the World Telugu Information Technology Council (WTITC), highlighted the growing opportunity for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to become important contributors to India’s expanding semiconductor ecosystem.

With SEMICON India bringing together 600 companies from 52 countries and around 50,000 visitors expected, and India committing Rs. 1,27,500 crore under Semicon 2.0, he said the scale of the opportunity demands stronger industry participation from the Telugu States.

Sundeep Makthala felicitated Ashok Chandak, President of SEMI India, and invited the SEMICON leadership to visit Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to explore the region’s technology, engineering, talent, startup and industrial capabilities.

He also proposed exploring a “SEMICON Telangana” initiative as an industry platform that could bring together semiconductor companies, global technology partners, investors, academia, startups and talent.

“Telangana can build deeper strengths in chip design, IP, R&D, EDA and semiconductor startups, while AP can leverage its manufacturing and industrial ecosystem to develop capabilities across packaging, testing, electronics and supply chains. Together, the two states can create a connected Telugu Semiconductor Ecosystem,” he added.
