Hyderabad: Civil Services journey generates a great deal of interest, as it requires one to provide effective solutions to social, cultural, economic, and political challenges over time, remarked Dr. G. Vivekananda, Assistant Director at the Ministry of Defense, during a seminar titled ‘Civil Services – the G.O.A.T Career for a Fresh Graduate,’ organized by ‘Telangana Today’ and ‘Namasthe Telangana’ in collaboration with Reflections IAS Academy at CMR Institute of Technology, Medchal, on Saturday.
Dr. Vivekananda shared valuable insights on the UPSC exam and highlighted the importance of problem-solving and challenge identification for successful UPSC preparation. “It shifts the focus from rote learning to developing analytical skills and a solution-oriented mindset, both of which are essential for administrative roles,” he added.
He emphasized that securing a position in UPSC not only provides job security but also empowers individuals to become game-changers with the authority to address societal challenges.
The seminar was highly interactive, with students participating in discussions and posing insightful questions. Responding to a query from a final year student, Rehman, about alternative plans (Plan B) while preparing for the UPSC, Dr. Vivekananda advised students to maintain focus, consistency, and dedication, suggesting that serious preparation would reduce the need for a Plan B and that success could be achieved in less than two years with the right approach.
Ramana Muppala, Founder and Director of Reflections IAS Academy, explained that UPSC issues exam notifications annually and allows candidates up to six attempts. He discussed the motivating factors behind pursuing civil services, emphasizing its role in providing legitimate authority to serve society. He also noted that the extensive knowledge acquired by aspirants prepares them well for other state or national public service commission exams.
Dr. Janga Reddy, Director of CMR IT College, welcomed the attendees, encouraging students to attentively listen to the speakers and take note of valuable insights that could benefit their personal and professional growth.
He expressed gratitude to Telangana Publications for organizing this beneficial seminar. Dr. Madhusudan Rao, the Principal, along with other HODs and staff, were present at the event.
