Hyderabad: Seven historic venues across England will host matches during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, according to ICC Media.

Here are the grounds where new stories will be written and dreams will turn into reality.

Edgbaston

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will begin in Birmingham at the spiritual home of T20 cricket in England, Edgbaston Cricket Ground.

The hosts start their campaign against Sri Lanka on June 12 at the West Midlands venue, which has hosted the domestic Vitality Blast Finals Day every year since 2013.

Rachel Heyhoe Flint’s England team made history by winning the first Women’s Cricket World Cup at Edgbaston in 1973, and Nat Sciver-Brunt will look to repeat those heroics as captain this year.

Famous for its atmosphere, Edgbaston will come alive when the biggest rivalry in cricket heads to Birmingham. India face Pakistan on June 14, while the Netherlands play their first-ever ICC Women’s T20 World Cup match at the same venue earlier that day against Bangladesh.

Old Trafford

Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester will host a string of key clashes likely to influence which teams qualify for the knockout stage.

Australia face South Africa on June 13 in a repeat of their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 semi-final, before South Africa return to the same venue to play India on June 21 in a rematch of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 final.

The home of Lancashire and the Manchester Originals previously hosted the 2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup semi-final between India and New Zealand, when the Black Caps reached a second consecutive final.

Headingley

Neighbours England and Scotland will face each other at Headingley Stadium on June 20.

That match follows Scotland’s tie against the West Indies on June 18, while six-time champions Australia will also play in Leeds, facing Bangladesh on June 17 as part of a double-header preceding India versus the Netherlands, and Pakistan on June 23.

Headingley, a dual-sport venue shared with rugby league side Leeds Rhinos, hosted iconic men’s Ashes matches in 1981 and 2019, remembered for historic performances by Ian Botham and Ben Stokes respectively.

More recently, Danni Wyatt entertained a 7,500-strong Yorkshire crowd in 2024, smashing 87 off 48 balls as England completed a series sweep against Pakistan.

Hampshire Bowl

Defending champions New Zealand begin their title defence with three consecutive matches on the south coast, taking on the West Indies and Sri Lanka on June 13 and June 16 respectively, followed by Ireland on June 19.

Other highlight fixtures include a double-header on June 20, with Australia facing the Netherlands and Pakistan taking on Bangladesh. Hosts England also meet Ireland on June 16 in an all-European clash.

Hampshire Bowl was the venue for Shakib Al Hasan’s five for 29 against Afghanistan and Joe Root’s century against the West Indies during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019.

The venue also witnessed the start of the T20 revolution, with Hampshire Hawks defeating Sussex Sharks in the opening match of England’s inaugural domestic T20 tournament in 2003.

Bristol County Ground

South Africa return to the scene of their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2017 semi-final defeat to England when they face the Netherlands in Bristol on June 25.

The Dutch play Pakistan at the same venue two days later, while ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 semi-finalists West Indies face Sri Lanka on June 21 and Ireland on June 27.

Bristol County Ground hosted several thrilling matches in 2017. In addition to the first semi-final, which England won by two wickets, the Nevil Road venue also staged the tournament opener, where Suzie Bates’ unbeaten century guided New Zealand to victory over Sri Lanka.

Chamari Athapaththu and Meg Lanning both scored centuries when Australia defeated Sri Lanka, while England earned their first ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup victory over Australia since 1993 with a three-run group-stage win.

The Oval

Knockout matches will begin at The Oval in south London, with both semi-finals scheduled to be played there on June 30 and July 2.

Before that, defending champions New Zealand face hosts England on June 27, the only group-stage match to be held at The Oval.

The home of Surrey and the Oval Invincibles hosted the second T20I of the 2023 Women’s Ashes, which England won by three runs. Danni Wyatt scored 76, while Sarah Glenn took two for 27.

Lord’s

Lord’s Cricket Ground will provide the backdrop for the final on July 5.

England have fond memories of finals at Lord’s, with current head coach Charlotte Edwards lifting the inaugural ICC Women’s T20 World Cup trophy there in 2009 after a six-wicket win over New Zealand.

Eight years later, Anya Shrubsole starred with a six-wicket haul as England defeated India by nine runs in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2017 final.

Two years later came one of the most remarkable matches in cricket history, when England defeated New Zealand on boundary countback in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 final after scores were tied even after the Super Over.

Before the final this year, Lord’s will host three group-stage matches. England face the West Indies on June 24 before a double-header on June 28 featuring South Africa versus Bangladesh and Australia against India.
