Hyderabad: A Class X student of Telangana Social Welfare Residential School Rajapet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, was allegedly beaten up by a group of intermediate second year students, leading to the suspension of seven students for one week.
While the incident took place on November 29 night in the hostel, a video of senior students allegedly attacking the student was circulated on social media on Wednesday. Two other students who tried to intervene also suffered injuries in the attack.
Dismissing claims of ragging, school principal P Sudhakar said the attack arose from ego issues among the students.
Claiming that Class X students were not respecting their seniors, a group of second year intermediate students attacked the Class X boy with a pipe on November 29 night. Seven students, five second year intermediate, one first year intermediate and one Class X student who had a previous history of creating disturbance and not attending classes, have been suspended for a week. One student has already left the school and the remaining students will be handed over to their parents, the principal told Telangana Today.
Earlier, the boy’s mother and family members confronted the principal and other authorities, questioning why senior students had attacked her son instead of reporting their grievance to staff.
