Hyderabad: Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration (CDMA) N Satyanarayana has on Tuesday suspended Shadnagar Municipal Commissioner D Lavanya for failing to ensure sufficient safety measures while taking up drainage works in Ward No 4 of the municipality. Two workers died while executing the works as a soil berm fell on them at the worksite on Monday.
Ahmed Shafiullah, Assistant Director in CDMA office, has been given full additional charge of Shadnagar Municipal Commissioner till further orders are issued. In connection with the incident, the CDMDA also suspended Shadnagar Municipality Assistant Engineer S Narsimha for his negligence in discharging duties and failing to maintain safety measures while executing the works.
The Ranga Reddy district administration also announced ex-gratia of Rs.5 lakh each to the kin of the deceased workers, who have been identified as Eerla Krishnaiah (33) and B Srinivas (35), residents of Upparguda village, Farooqnagar mandal in the district.
