Shanmukha Priya loves to give off positive energy
The ‘Indian Idol’ finalist who will perform in Hyderabad on December 18, gives us a glimpse into her other passions, scoring 98 per cent in Intermediate and more
Hyderabad: Shanmukha Priya is all pumped to perform in Hyderabad soon. The singer along with the other finalists of ‘Indian Idol’ season 12 – Pawandeep Rajan, Arunita Kanjilal, Sayali Kamble, and Danish Mohammed – will set the stage on fire on December 18 at the Shilpa Kala Vedika. The concert, Fabulous 5, is being curated by Eleven Point Two and partnered by Metalloid Productions. At a promotional event in the city, Shanmukha Priya crooned the songs ‘Maguva Maguva’ and ‘Undiporaadhey’ and interacted with ‘Telangana Today’.
Shanmukha said that she is extremely excited to perform with her close friends with whom she is in touch every single day. About her experience at ‘Indian Idol’, she says, “It was a dreamy journey. Since childhood, I wanted to perform on the ‘Indian Idol’ stage and I am overwhelmed with the amazing response I received from people. I am thankful to all my fans for their love and support.”
Shanmukha always looks forward to giving her 100 per cent whenever she performs. She says she will entertain her fans through songs her entire life. “I have many concerts and gigs and will be performing in northern India as well post my performance in Hyderabad. I am recording many songs for films. Although hectic, this is what I love and enjoy doing,” Shanmukha says.
The 18-year-old has been in the entertainment industry from time immemorial. She admits that she sometimes misses having a normal childhood and going to school. “I miss having friends but I am extremely grateful that I could do reality shows from a very young age. Growing in front of people is great. So many people who have seen me perform as a kid come and tell me how proud they are of my achievements and that makes it all worth it,” adds Shanmukha, whose musical inspirations are her parents and Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Kishore Kumar, SPB, S Janaki, and Michael Jackson, among others.
Shanmukha currently cannot stop listening to MJ’s ‘Earth Song’ on a loop. The musical sensation is singing for Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Pandey’s upcoming pan-India film ‘Liger’. Has Shanmukha ever faced any indifference as a south Indian in the Hindi industry? “No, there has always been a positive vibe wherever I go. I have not faced any negativity from the organisers, judges, or anyone in the industry and that’s very important to keep going. The mindset and atmosphere where we live in and perform matters a lot,” she quips.
When she’s not singing, not many know that Shanmukha loves to dance. She’s also extremely interested in excelling in her academic career. The singer is in her first year in BSc Mathematics and she scored 98 per cent in her Intermediate final year! The all-rounder also enjoys cooking and cleaning with her mother. “I am looking forward to performing in front of our Telugu people and there are many surprises for fans on December 18,” she concludes.
