Siddipet Collector Venkatrami Reddy resigns, likely to plunge into politics
Venkatrami Reddy met Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar at the latter's chambers in the Secretariat at BRK Bhavan on Monday afternoon and submitted his resignation.
Siddipet: Siddipet Collector P Venkatrami Reddy, a 2007 batch promotee IAS officer, has opted for voluntary retirement. He is taking a plunge into the State politics and is likely to join the ruling TRS. It is learnt that he is likely to be nominated as the Member of Telangana State Legislative Council (MLC).
Venkatrami Reddy met Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar at the latter’s chambers in the Secretariat at BRK Bhavan on Monday afternoon and submitted his resignation. The 1996 batch Group I officer was conferred with Indian Administrative Services in 2007. He is a native of Odlea in the Peddapalli district.
The Collector, who has been posted in the erstwhile Medak district since Telangana was formed in 2014, had worked closely with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Finance Minister T Harish Rao. He had also worked as Collector of Rajanna Sircilla district during the 2018 general elections.
Venkatrami Reddy had played a vital role in completing the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) as he led the official machinery in acquiring over 50,000 acres of land for the irrigation project. He had also successfully executed construction of 6,000 double bedroom houses for the Rehabilitation and Resettlement Colony near Gajwel.
