Siddipet: With diesel prices going up every day, a gang of thieves from Narayanpet district saw an opportunity to earn some good income by stealing fuel from trucks parked along the highways across the State.
The gang stole 480 litres of diesel from a truck parked along the busy Rajiv Rahadari near Pragnapur on July 11 in Siddipet district. Following a complaint lodged by the lorry owner, Burgupally Balaraju, Gajwel police have launched a hunt to nab the accused.
When the Crime Party constables were on patrolling duty in Pragnapur, three persons were seen moving suspiciously close to a truck on July 19 afternoon. While one of them fled from the scene in a car when the police approached them, they, however, managed to nab the remaining two. They were identified as Degavath Rahul (21) and Degavath Mahesh (22), residents of Bandatanda in Marikal Mandal in Narayanpet district.
After a thorough enquiry, the inter-district gang has confessed that they had been stealing diesel from parked vehicles which they were selling to auto and cab drivers at relatively cheaper price. The police have seized Rs 97 thousand cash, a screwdriver, a pipe, seven cans and others from the accused. The accused have been produced before the court. Meanwhile, the police have launched a hunt to nab their accomplices-Degavath Sunil-Rajesh-Lakshman and Srinivas- who fled from the scene.
