Siddipet municipality all set for polls

Additional Collector and Commissioner of Siddipet Municipality Muzammil Khan has said 2,388 personnel would be deployed for the elections.

Siddipet: Over one lakh Siddipet citizens will cast their vote on Thursday in 43 wards to decide the fate of 236 candidates in Siddipet Municipality election. The election authorities have made all arrangements for polling while the Police department also made arrangements to provide security in all the 129 polling booths in Siddipet. Women ( 50,781) outnumber male voters (49,886 ) in Siddipet Municipality.

Additional Collector and Commissioner of Siddipet Municipality Muzammil Khan has said 2,388 personnel would be deployed for the elections. The ballot boxes were distributed at the distribution and reception centre at Indur Engineering College.


Meanwhile, the election for the 12th ward of Gajwel Municipality will also be conducted on Thursday. The polling will be held in two polling booths in Gajwel. The voting will commence at 7 am and it will end exactly by 5PM.

Following the Covid-19 guidelines, Muzammil Khan has said that they have distributed N-95 masks to all the personnel besides ensuring the maintenance of social distance at the queuelines. He has said that they will made available sanitizers at all the polling booths to make sure that the voters must enter the polling stations after washing their hands and wearing masks only.

Commissioner of Police D Joel Davis has said that they have identified 32 Polling Stations as critical polling stations where they had taken additional care to conduct the election peacefully. The Commissioner has said that they were going to deploy 505 personnel to conduct the election smoothly. He has said that model code of conduct teams, flying squads, statistical surveillance teams, video surveillance teams will keep a watch besides video recording the election process.

The Additional Collector has called upon the people to exercise their franchise without fail on Thursday following the Covid-19 guidelines. Meanwhile, the election authorities had given postal ballot option to Covid-19 positive patients, Physically challenged and elderly people aged 80 and above.
