Siddipet: Siddipet police conducted a special drive to identify two-wheeler owners who were using modified silencers, causing disturbance on town roads. Since the use of such silencers was causing a lot of discomfort to children, women, the elderly, and patients in hospitals, the police carried out the special drive and identified around 240 such vehicles in Siddipet town.
The vehicles were released only after replacing the modified parts with company-approved silencers. Appropriate cases were registered against the owners. The 240 silencers were crushed using a road roller in full public view, in the presence of Commissioner Rashmi Perumal and other police officials at BJR Junction.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner called upon the public not to use modified silencers since they would cause a lot of inconvenience to citizens. She warned that similar special drives would be conducted across all police station limits in the district. Rashmi Perumal stated that violators would be booked under the Environment Protection Act. The Commissioner also directed mechanics not to install such silencers on any vehicles. She warned of strict action against anyone illegally using police sirens on private vehicles. Responsible citizens can photograph vehicles using modified silencers or unauthorised police sirens and report them to the Traffic Inspector at 87126 67410.
The Commissioner urged all citizens to follow traffic rules, emphasising that jumping even a signal can lead to fatal accidents. She appealed to citizens to refrain from drunk driving and triple riding besides wearing helmets even for short journeys. Siddipet Traffic ACP Suman Kumar, Siddipet Traffic Inspector Mutyam Raju, Siddipet three-town Inspector Lakshmibabu, and other police officials were present.
