Hyderabad: A rare idol of Jain dharma was discovered by members of Kotha Telangana Charitra Brundam (KTCB) at Patigadda village in Akunuru in Siddipet district. The five-foot height idol was found when the KTCB members led by its convenor Sriramoju Haragopal went for an exploration to the village.
“When we found the idol, we cleared bushes and mud from the premises and informed the village sarpanch,” Haragopal said on Friday. The discovery of an idol of Jain dharma showed that the place has historical prominence.
“We requested the sarpanch to take necessary steps either to maintain cleanliness near the idol or bring it to the Gram Panchayat office for safe custody,” he said.
A few days ago, the KCTB members found a rare ‘Shivalinga’ along with a hand shaped axe with double convex and other objects at Kondapaka in Medak district.
