Siddipet: Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy said those who obstructed the construction of the Mallanna Sagar project were celebrating today by throwing flower petals as the Godavari water is released into canals of the project.
However, the Medak MP said that the people of Telangana know how Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had worked hard to complete the project.
Speaking to news reporters after releasing water from the Dubbak canal of Mallanna Sagar Project on Friday, Reddy said that the canal will serve the irrigation needs of Dubbak, Siricilla and Siddipet Constituency.
Saying that the realisation of the Mallanna Sagar project is a fruit of separate Telangana, the MP said a few Opposition party leaders had put all-out efforts to stop the project.
When the water is released from the canals, Reddy said that such leaders have made a visit to the project to offer puja with flower petals, Kum Kum, and turmeric in their hands.
Stating that they had fought hard for Telangana State, Reddy said the water from the Dubbak canal will irrigate fields up to upper Manair. Since the farmers were in need of water for the Yasangi crop, the MP said that the Chief Minister and Finance Minister T Harish Rao had instructed the officials to release the water from the Dubbak canal.
Once the remaining canals were completed, Reddy said that the project will benefit most of the people. MLC Farooq Hussain, Forest Development Chairman Vanteru Prathap Reddy, DCCB Chairman Chitt Devendar Reddy, and others were present.
