HYDERABAD: Double Olympics medallist and former World champion P.V. Sindhu will miss the international circuit till January 2026, her family sources informed ‘Telangana Today’.
The global badminton icon from the City has withdrawn from all the remaining BWF Tour 2025 events after extensive consultations with her support team and renowned sports medicine expert Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, following a thorough evaluation of her recovery and rehabilitation progress.
The 30-year-old Sindhu sustained a foot injury ahead of the European leg of the season, which, despite significant improvement, continues to require careful management to ensure long-term fitness and performance. With the guidance of her medical and performance teams, it was collectively agreed that prioritizing complete recovery over short-term competition is the best way forward.
While stepping away from the remainder of the 2025 calendar was not an easy choice, Sindhu has already begun a structured rehabilitation and training programme under close supervision. Her regimen focuses on physical conditioning, recovery protocols, and gradual reintroduction to on-court training, with the singular aim of returning to peak performance.
Sindhu expressed her deep gratitude for the support and encouragement she continues to receive from fans, well-wishers, and the sporting fraternity. She also shared that she is eagerly looking forward to stepping back on the court around January 2026, channeling all her focus into recovery and preparation for the next phase of her career.
Her team emphasized that this break, while temporary, will only strengthen her resolve and readiness for future challenges, including key tournaments in the lead-up to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Sindhu’s father, P.V. Ramana, informed ‘Telangana Today’ felt that the break should do a world of good for the champion shuttler as she chases the ultimate dream of winning the Olympics gold.
Apparently, the family believes that there is nothing to prove for Sindhu having won almost every major title and the only big goal now she could be chasing is the Olympics gold having won the silver in 2016 and a bronze in 2020 editions
