Singareni CMD asks officials to increase CHP capacity to handle 100 million tons coal

Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Company Limited(SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N Balram directed the officials to increase the capacity of the Coal Handling Plants (CHP) to handle enhanced coal productions in the near future.
Balram, who held a review meeting on CHP on Saturday, asked officials to work towards increasing the capacity of the CHP so that it could handle future coal productions.
The capacity of CHPs should also be gradually increased as the company would reach the target of 100 million tonnes of coal production in the coming days from the current 80 million tonnes, he said.
Currently, there were 11 huge CHPs across Singareni, in addition to these, 2 more CHPs and one siding would be available within a year, he said, adding that the GDK-6 CHP in Ramagundam-2 area with a capacity of 5 million tonnes, CHP with a capacity of 6 million tonnes in connection with the Kottagudem VK open cast mine would start this year.
Even the KK-I railway wharf loading siding with a capacity of 2 million tonnes in the Mandamarri area would also start operating, he informed.
At present only 1.6 lakh cubic meters of overburden was being removed per day with the company’s heavy machines across Singareni, and that at least 2 lakh cubic meters of overburden should be removed per day by using the machines during the full working hours, he said, adding that currently the usage of heavy machinery in the mines was only for 13 to 14 hours, and that there was a need to increase it to 20 hours.
