Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar suggested that the next three months would be crucial to achieve the set target of 70 million tonnes of coal production. The coal production and transportation should carry on without any interruptions during monsoon, he said.
Stating that the targets in the first three months in this financial year have been achieved, he asked the employees to work with the same zeal in the second quarter as well. He instructed the General Managers (GMs) of all SCCL areas to produce and transport 1.85 lakh tonnes of coal every day in July.

At a review meeting conducted on virtual mode from Singareni Bhavan here, he instructed officials to achieve the targets. Sridhar explained that in the first quarter of last financial year, 9.5 million tonnes of coal was produced and in this financial year in the first quarter 15.57 million tonnes of coal was produced, achieving 64 per cent growth.
Last year in the first three months, 8.47 million tonnes of coal was transported and presently 16.7 million tonnes was transported, achieving 97.16 per cent growth.
Compared to last year, 95.02 million cubic metres of over burden was removed. Since there would be a possibility of interruptions during the rainy season, officials should make necessary arrangements to pump out water. He instructed the area GMs to chalk out special plans for production in every shift.
“If there is an interruption due to rain in one shift then work has to be done to cover the deficit in another shift,” Sridhar said. He added that periodical review must be conducted by the officials with regard to production and transportation and guide employees accordingly.
“Necessary arrangements should be made to achieve set targets and if there is any problem, officials can bring it to my notice to resolve them immediately,” he said. Sridhar said that nothing less than 33 rakes of coal should be transported as presently there is demand for coal.
On the Haritha Haram programme, Sridhar said over 50 lakh saplings must be planted throughout Singareni. Referring to Covid-19 cases, he said there were only 150 active cases and 38,500 people got vaccines. Second doses would also be given to 5,000 eligible people soon.
