Hyderabad: The Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) on Friday held a pre-agreement kick-off meeting with representatives of construction companies Adani group and Novus Green Energy System and three general managers of the three areas to set up six solar power plants with a cumulative capacity of 80.5 MW of power.
The SCCL is considering setting up of three types of solar plants, on land, dumps and water. They including 33.5 MW plants to be built on land which will have a 22.5 MW solar unit at Garimellipadu of Kothagudem and a 11 MW unit near Chennur coal fields of Srirampur area. Adani group will be building these two and complete the work within a year.
For the first time, 32 MW solar power plants will be built on Over Burden Dumps. A 22 MW solar plant will be built on opencast dumps of Ramagundam Area -3, and 10 MW plant on Bellampalli Dorli OC mine. These two plants will also be built by the Adani group.
On the other hand the SCCL will be taking up two floating solar power plants including a 10 MW plant on Singareni Thermal Plant reservoir and another 5 MW plant at Dorli OC closed quarry water tank. Novus Green group which has experience of setting up 230 MW floating solar power plants in Maharashtra was entrusted with setting up these two plants.
In yet another first, the agencies will be utilising Indian made solar photovoltaic plates in these power plants saving a considerable amount to the SCCL. The Central government gives Rs 68 lakh per MW for using indigenous plates. SCCL is going to receive a subsidy of Rs 50 crore, in this regard.
