Singareni to set up 2,300 MW power plants in Rajasthan

Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) will establish power generation plants outside Telangana for the first time, with a 2,300 MW project in Rajasthan in partnership with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUL).

Peddapalli: For the first time, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) will establish power generation plants outside the state. As part of its business expansion plan, Singareni has decided to set up power units in Rajasthan and signed an agreement with the Rajasthan government.

The SCCL in association with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUL) will establish 2,300 MW power plants including 1500 MW solar and 800 MW thermal power.

Recently, the Rajasthan state cabinet also approved the project. Rajasthan Power Minister Heeralal Nagar conveyed it to the Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Batti Vikramarka on Thursday in Hyderabad.

Though the company began with coal excavation, it has diversified into other business. As part of business expansion plans, it entered into the power production sector.

While 1200 MW Singareni Thermal Power Project is established in Jaipur of Mancherial district, 245 MW Solar power units have been set up in the open places as well as on the top of overburden of opencast mines.

The construction of another 232 MW solar power generation units is under progress in eight areas of the company. With experience in the power sector, SCCL has entered an agreement with the Rajasthan government to establish 2,300 MW power plants.

Singareni recently received licenses for the exploration of gold and copper minerals in Karnataka state.
