Rajanna-Sircilla: This is a touching story, even if it involves ‘theft.’ A 13-year-old boy stole the laddu from a Ganesh idol in Markandayanagar of Vemulawada town on Monday night in the belief that it would cure his ailing mother.
The boy’s mother has been suffering from seizures for the past one month. Friends and well-wishers told him that it she may be cured if she consumes a laddu placed in the hands of a Ganesh idol.
The boy and his friend went to a house on a two wheeler on Monday night. While his friend waited outside, he jumped the compound wall of the house and fled with the laddu from the idol in the house.
The video of the boy jumping the compound wall and fleeing with the laddu went viral on various social media platforms, prompting police to take up investigation. They traced the boy on Wednesday. on being questioned, the boy informed the police that he stole the laddu to cure his ailing mother. Since they had not received any complaint, the police released the boy after some counseling, Vemulawada CIO Venkatesh said.
