Mulugu: Six militia members of the outlawed CPI Maoist were arrested by the police in the district on Thursday. The arrested were Kursam Sarveshwar Rao, Kursam Ramakrishna, Kursam Venkatesh, Kursam Ganapathi, Mede Papa Rao and Kursam Lakshmaiah of Venakatapur (Nugur) mandal and the neighbouring villages of Chattisgarh State.
Disclosing the details at a press conference at Eturnagaram in the district on Friday, ASP (OSD) Shoban Kumar said that the arrested had been working as militia members of the CPI Maoists party since 2019. “The CRPF police and Venkatapuram police had nabbed the accused while they were planting the landmine on a path between Tippapuram and Pedd Utlapally villages in the forest areas to kill the security forces who have been combing the forests for the Maoists,” he added.
