Slain Maoist Prabhakar involved in 113 crimes: Gadchiroli police

Kothagudem: CPI (Maoist) DKSZC member, in-charge of West Sub-Zonal Bureau and in-charge of Company No. 10, Loketi Chander Rao alias Prabhakar, was involved in 113 crimes, Gadchiroli police said.
Prabhakar, a native of Kamareddy district in Telangana, was among the seven naxals killed in an anti-naxal operation carried out on the borders of Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli and Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur districts in the Abujhmad area under the limits of Maharashtra’s Bhamragad police sub-division.
CYPC Commander of Company No. 5 Pagu Modyam, PPCM guard of Prabhakar Anila alias Budari Kowachi, PPCM Commander of special platoon Maad Area Kamesh Pada, Paralkot LOS ACM Bhajnath alias Bhima Holi, and party members Mangali Kursam and Jogi Sodhi, all from Chhattisgarh, were the other Maoists killed in the encounter.
The Maharashtra government had announced a cumulative cash reward of Rs 71 lakh on them. During the three-day, three-night operation, five firearms including three AK-47 rifles, one SLR, one .303 rifle, 173 rounds of live ammunition and other belongings were seized, police said in a statement on Saturday.
The anti-naxal operation was led by Bhamragad sub-divisional police officer Amar Mohite with 14 C-60 parties, while one CRPF quick action team unit was deployed to strengthen the cordon.
C-60 Pranhita commando Deepak Chinna Madavi died, while another commando Joga Madavi, who suffered a bullet injury, was stated to be stable. Due to sustained efforts by Gadchiroli police, as many as 99 Maoists were killed, 140 Maoists were arrested and 153 Maoists surrendered before the police since 2021.
Gadchiroli Superintendent of Police Neelotpal appealed to all underground Maoists to lay down their arms, surrender and join the mainstream of development, the statement added.
