Suryapet: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Saturday informed that the State government has launched an exercise to find a permanent solution to podu lands issues in the State.
Holding a review meeting with the District Collectors, Additional Collectors and Forest Department officials of Nalgonda, Suryapet and Yadadri-Bhongir here, Energy Minister said that the Cabinet sub-committee headed by Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod had already submitted a report to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on podu lands issue. The State government also started an exercise to identify genuine beneficiaries for the purpose.
The Minister instructed the officials to conduct field visits to identify the people, who were cultivating the podu lands in the erstwhile Nalgonda district. The officials of forest, revenue and forest departments should work in coordination to complete the task, which was aimed at putting an end to the decades-old podu lands issue. He said that rights would be provided to the cultivators of podu land as per the decision of the Chief Minister. Nalgonda District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil, Suryapet district Collector T Vinay Krishna Reddy and Yadadri-Bhongir District Collector Pamela Satpathy attended the review meeting.
