South Asian ambassadors impressed by Buddhavanam at Nagarjuna Sagar
South Asian ambassadors visited Buddhavanam at Nagarjuna Sagar and praised its Buddhist structures and sculptures. Welcomed with cultural performances, they toured the Acharya Nagarjuna statue, Maha Stupa and other segments before enjoying a boat ride, highlighting Telangana’s Buddhist heritage tourism potential

Hyderabad: Ambassadors from South Asia visited Buddhavanam on Monday and were impressed by the Buddhist structures and sculptures at the largest Buddhist Heritage Theme Park in Asia, developed by the State at Nagarjuna Sagar.
The visiting dignitaries included Muzaffar Shabin Musthafa, High Commissioner of Malaysia; Dr Sankar Prasad Sarma, Ambassador of Nepal; Major General Vetsot Namgyel, Ambassador of Bhutan; Mahishini Collini, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka; and Chavanart Thangsumphamt, Ambassador of Thailand.
They were received by Buddhavanam Project Special Officer Mallepalli Laxmaiah and welcomed with Dappu and Kolatam performances at the entrance plaza. Laxmaiah made a presentation on the Buddhist heritage of Telangana and future plans to develop Buddhavanam into a world-class Buddhist tourism destination.
E Sivanagireddy, CEO of Pleach India Foundation, guided the delegation through Buddhacharithavanam, the Acharya Nagarjuna statue at the Maha Stupa, and various other segments of the park. The visitors also enjoyed a boat ride in the reservoir before leaving for Future City to participate in the Global Summit.
