Hyderabad: The Hayathnagar police along with the Special Branch and Agriculture Department officials raided an illegal storage unit of seeds and arrested the owner here on Saturday. Police seized seeds worth Rs.50 lakh.
The arrested person was Gopal Kamal Kishore Surekha (60), a trader from Moosarambagh in Dilsukhnagar.

“During the raid we also seized expired seeds that he collected from dealers. He forged expiry dates and repacked the same and sent them to dealers to sell to farmers,” Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said.
Further investigation revealed that according to the license granted to him, he has to store and sell the seeds from his licensed shop. But he was illegally storing castor seeds, paddy seeds and lentils seeds in his godown.
Following a tip-off, the police team raided the premises and arrested him.
