Hyderabad: Actor Sudheer Babu’s action entertainer ‘Sridevi Soda Center’ which had many setbacks and initial hiccups on the film sets, is now set to release this Friday.
Makers Shashi Devireddy and Vijay Chilla had faced quite a challenge to restart the film’s shooting after personal tragedy.
“In the very first schedule, we faced a setback in the form of an accident when the caravan assistant suffered an electric shock on the sets. Another crew member got injured the following day. We didn’t understand why such negative things keep occuring in the initial stages. Another jolt came in the form of personal tragedy as Vijay Challa’s brother passed away. We took a break for a month. It’s then we decided to restart with a fresh mind and positive approach. Later, it was a smooth journey. By March, the production work was completed. As soon as the motion poster was out, we received a good response from people in the trade. Even before we wrapped up the shoot, the business deals were closed in all languages,” says the makers. Going by the trailer, most of the drama happens around the shop named ‘Sridevi Soda Center’.
After Taapsee Pannu starrer ‘Anando Brahma’, the producers wanted to bankroll the biographical flick of former Andhra Pradesh CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy starring star Mammootty. “That was the time when we were listening to multiple scripts of horror comedies which weren’t that interesting. Later, we grabbed the offer to produce ‘Yatra’. Instead of again going with making some other biopic, we thought ‘Sridevi Soda Center’ is an interesting story to tell audiences.”
According to the makers, ‘Sridevi Soda Centre’ has many realistic characters. The reason behind chosing director Karuna Kumar who made ‘Palasa 1978’, was his realistic approach to filmmaking, said the producers adding that they wanted to ensure quality at the same to keeping the aesthetics intact.
‘Sridevi Soda Center’ harps on a love story between a youngster named Lighting Suri Babu and Sodaala Sridevi. The movie depicts the caste system in a village.. The movie is releasing in about 500 theatres in the Telugu States and 120 screens in the US.
Coming to music, the makers took proper care in getting the music sync with the rural backdrop. Mani Sharma’s music is going to be the highlight. “We wanted someone who understands the rural village well. Mani Sharma hasn’t worked on a movie that is entirely on a rural backdrop in the past, they added.
