Hyderabad: Grand preparations have been completed for the Telangana Formation Day celebrations to be held at the MECC Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur on June 6. BRS working president KT Rama Rao has already arrived in Kuala Lumpur to participate in the event as the chief guest.
BRS NRI global coordinator Mahesh Bigala, along with representatives of the BRS Malaysia chapter and the Malaysia Telangana Association (MYTA), reviewed the arrangements on Friday. The celebrations are being organised to showcase Telangana’s culture and strengthen unity among the Indian diaspora.
On his arrival, Rama Rao received a warm welcome from members of the Telangana diaspora, BRS supporters and various Telugu associations, generating considerable enthusiasm among the expatriate community.
The Malaysia Telugu Academy, one of the oldest Telugu organisations in the country, has extended a special invitation to Rama Rao. Established in 1955, the Academy represents the cultural heritage of nearly five lakh Telugu people who have lived in Malaysia for generations.
Mahesh Bigala said the event would be organised on the lines of last year’s Telangana Formation Day celebrations in Dallas and would further strengthen ties among Telangana-origin communities across the world. Telugu families, Telangana statehood movement supporters and community leaders from across Malaysia are expected to participate in the programme.
A large number of Telangana NRIs and Telugu community members from Singapore, Australia and neighbouring countries are also expected to attend. Several senior BRS leaders, including former Ministers and former MLAs, along with cultural artistes, have already reached Malaysia for the celebrations.
The event is being organised jointly by BRS USA and MYTA, with support from several Indian community organisations, including the Telugu Expats Association of Malaysia, Malaysia Andhra Association, Malaysia Telugu Foundation, Telugu Association of Malaysia, Tamil Expats Association of Malaysia, Kannada Association of Malaysia, Punjabi Association of Malaysia, Odisha Association of Malaysia and the Bharatiya Association of Malaysia.
Mahesh Bigala expressed confidence that the celebrations would emerge as a landmark event reflecting Telangana’s cultural identity and the solidarity of the global Indian diaspora.
