Telangana: Union Minister of State, Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated India’s first unique ‘Rock Museum’ in Hyderabad.
The Open Rock Museum, set up with the aim to educate and enlighten the masses about several lesser-known facts, displays around 35 different types of rocks from different parts of India with ages ranging from 3.3 billion years to around 55 million years of the Earth’s history. These rocks also represent the deepest part of the Earth up to 175 kilometres of distance from the surface of the Earth.
Addressing the scientists at the CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute later, Singh said that ‘Big Earth data’ occupies the strategic high ground in the era of knowledge economies and India is exploiting this new frontier, contributing to the advancement of Earth science.
Andhra Pradesh: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy chaired a review meeting with the education department and said mapping of subject-wise teachers for schools should be taken as a top priority.

Reviewing all the initiatives in the education sector, the CM directed officials to complete the mapping of school teachers under the new hierarchy of school divisions in the State. Emphasising the importance of maintaining subject-wise teachers in every grade, Reddy said that this mapping is a top priority and should be completed swiftly.
The Chief Minister directed officials to focus on maintenance of existing infrastructure and also to submit the ‘Action Taken Report’ on regular basis. In Andhra Pradesh, NISHTHA 3.0 is improving foundational literacy and numeracy for 68,000 primary school teachers and 56,000 Anganwadi workers.
Madhya Pradesh: Madhya Pradesh has administered the highest number of doses of vaccine on the first day of anti-Covid inoculation drive for 15-18 age groups, with 7.71 lakh teenagers getting their first dose, the State government said.
The State government has set up 8,667 vaccination centres for teenagers in all the 52 districts across the State. Overall 10 lakh vaccine doses were administered in the State, out of which around 75 per cent jab receivers were teenagers.
Among the districts where maximum doses were administered so far, Indore was on top with 59,769 doses, and then it was Sagar district where 58,312 doses were administered, followed by Chhatarpur district with 49,982 doses and Chhindwara district with 38,091 doses.
Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh has been ranked as the best State in water conservation efforts for 2020. Addressing the 2020 National Water Awards, the Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said the country required 1,000 billion cubic metres of water per year to cater to its agriculture, irrigation, industrial and domestic requirements.
Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu were awarded second and third ranks, respectively, for their work and efforts towards water conservation. Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh received the best district award in the northern zone, followed by Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar in Punjab.
The National Water Award was launched by the Jal Shakti Ministry in 2018. It aims to provide a good opportunity to organisations to engage and deliberate with senior policy-makers on how to adopt the best water resources management practices in India.
