Mancherial: Policemen strictly enforced lockdown norms by ensuring the commercial establishments were closed, and preventing movement of public and vehicles on roads before 10 am across the district on the 12th day of the Covid-19 lockdown on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police D Uday Kumar Reddy and Assistant Commissioner of Police Akhil Mahajan toured several parts of the town and district to inspect the implementation of the norms of the ongoing lockdown. They visited check-posts erected on the borders of the district meant for preventing unauthorised entry of outsiders and people of neighbouring Maharashtra.
Uday Kumar intercepted vehicles at Thandur mandal centres and meticulously verified permissions to move on the roads during the lockdown. He imposed fines against those who unnecessarily ventured outdoors and violated norms of the lockdown. He instructed the officials to strictly impose the norms and to curb the entry of unauthorised vehicles.
K Babu Rao, the inspector of Thandur said that cases would be booked against those who step outside without citing a valid reason. He stated that the deadly virus could be contained by self-lockdown. He added that night patrolling was carried out in streets to prevent movement of public on roads. He sought the cooperation of the citizens in the implementation of the lockdown.
