Student unions gherao Gurukuls principal secretary in Khammam
Student union leaders in Khammam gheraoed Gurukuls Principal Secretary Alugu Varshini on Wednesday, protesting against alleged negligence in Gurukul institutions across the State. The demonstration was sparked by the recent suspicious death of a Class X student in Gollagudem.
Khammam: A group of student union leaders gheraoed Gurukuls principal secretary Alugu Varshani here on Wednesday, demanding that she address various issues being faced by Gurukuls in the State.
The incident occurred when the officer visited a Gurukul School near Danawaigudem near Khammam. The police intervened and tried to stop the protesting leaders. Later, the leaders of AISF, PDSU, SFI and other unions submitted a petition to the officer, seeking to address the problems in Gurukuls.

They complained that a class X student Bhukya Pratima died under suspicious circumstances in her classroom at Tribal Ashram School at Gollagudem, Khammam Rural mandal recently. The student died due to the negligence of the school warden Ramadevi, the principal and district tribal welfare officer.
Immediate action should be taken against the erring officials to bring justice to the family, the student union leaders demanded.
